Today January 18th marked the last day, Kamala Harris will be representing the State of California at the Federal Senate she formally presented her letter of resignation to California's governor Gavin Newsom after being sworn in 2017 becoming the Second Black and First South Asian woman to enter the Senate.

In an op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicles, Kamala wrote that serving in the senate had been an Honor and this is not a goodbye but a see you on the other side of the legislative branch as she will be presiding over the chamber. With a senate in equilibrium, Kamala will be the tie-breaker, she reference this by saying,"And this is not goodbye. As I resign from the Senate, I am preparing to take an oath that would have me preside over it, as senator-turned-Vice-President Walter Mondale once pointed out, the vice presidency is the only office in our government that 'belongs to both the executive branch and the legislative branch.' A responsibility made greater with an equal number of Democrats and Republicans in the Senate."

Thank you, California.pic.twitter.com/3FJMUrWMo0

With a few days to go before being officially sworn in as Vice President, Kamala is on her last working sessions at the Senate.

On January 1st (New Year's day), Kamala was back at the U.S Capitol in Washington D.C to vote on the Senate floor. The vote was on the National Defense Authorization Act. Both the House and Senate voted to override President Trump's veto thereby passing the act.

The nominee is Retired General Llyod Austin. Retired General Austin is a former commander of the U.S. military effort in Iraq, and if confirmed by the Senate, he would become the first African-American to lead the Pentagon

I am absolutely confident that Secretary-designate Lloyd Austin is the right person to lead the Department of Defense at this critical moment. pic.twitter.com/QF3OcEldUF

This blog "Kamala Harris' Closet," was established by Zef Dalhia to follow the works and fashion of the newly elected Vice President Kamala Harris as she will soon begin her four year mandate serving the American people and its interest alongside President-Elect Joe Biden.

Like other style blogs created by Zef Dalhia(Queen Rania's Closet), I will be respectfully in making sure that Madame VP's work is a centrepiece while making sure that her fashion and style choices will be a supporting work.

This isn't a political blog, we can discuss the politics on twitter and the blog isn't affiliated in any shape or form with Ms. Harris, her office or the Biden-Harris government
