On May 8th, Vice President Harris appeared in a pre-recorded video shown at the VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World on Saturday host by Global Citizen and co- chaired by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

During her remarks, she urged people to come together to defeat the pandemic. “Today, we have a vaccine,” Vice President Harris said. “And thanks to the ingenuity of scientists, the hard work of manufacturers, and the dedication of health care workers, people around the world are getting vaccinated, and in so doing, are saving lives.

“If you are already vaccinated, thank you for stepping up,” she added. “If you’re not, please, when it’s your turn, make the time, roll up your sleeves, and get your shot. We can do this. We must do this. It is our responsibility as Global Citizens.”

She was joined by President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and other world leaders like His Holiness Pope Francis II, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron

2) On May 9th, she posted a Mother's Day video to celebrate mothers from around the country. She spoke candidly about her mother Shyamala Gopalan

In a tweet on her Official Twitter she wrote this with a post of her mother, herself and younger sister Maya: My mother, Shyamala Gopalan, came from India to the U.S. to become a scientist. She had two goals in life: to cure breast cancer and to raise my sister, Maya, and me. I am forever grateful to her, and all mothers who love us, raise us, and inspire us. Happy Mother’s Day!"

It was on Saturday November 8th, 2020 that everything changed in the life of Senator Kamala Harris, after weeks and months of campaigning as Vice President alongside Joe Biden, an election which took place on Tuesday November 3rd, four days of waiting for the confirmation of their projected win, Senator Harris hit the newest milestone in her life and the country's history becoming the First African-American,  First mixed-race, First Indian, First Jamaican, First Female Vice-President-Elect of the United States of America.

The second of first milestones the country's highest office has had in the span of a twelve years. It was while on her run back at home that the news from various American media broke on that Saturday morning which projected the Biden-Harris team as elected President-elect and Vice President-elect of the United States of America.

In a video posted on the Kamala's social media account, dressed in her sports wear which included a grey Nike Half-Zip Top we can all hear her talking to the newly elected President Joe Biden saying, "We did it, we did it Joe. You're going to be the next president of the United States!"

Her first Vice President-Elect speech:

Later that evening, the newly elected duo returned to  Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware, where Ms. Harris gave her first Vice President-Elect speech before introducing the President-Elect Joe Biden.

Thank you to the American people for the faith you have entrusted in us. Tune in now as President-elect @JoeBiden and I address the nation. https://t.co/KQvJiWIEdJ

— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) November 8, 2020
Opening her speech, she paid homage to the late Congressman John Lewis and his fight for democracy until his last breathe with the last quote he gave before passing away: “Democracy is not a state. It is an act.” And what he meant was that America’s democracy is not guaranteed. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it, to guard it and never take it for granted. And protecting our democracy takes struggle. It takes sacrifice.

Dressed in the Suffragette white, pantsuits, she paid homage to the ladies before her, like her mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who paved the way for women's right as this year marked 100 years after women won the rights to vote. She reflected on their struggle, their determination and the strength of their vision – to see what can be unburdened by what has been – I stand on their shoulders. By saying this "my mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who is always in our hearts. When she came here from India at the age of 19, maybe she didn’t quite imagine this moment. But she believed so deeply in an America where a moment like this is possible. So, I’m thinking about her and about the generations of women – Black women, Asian, White, Latina, and Native American women throughout our nation’s history who have paved the way for this moment tonight. Women who fought and sacrificed so much for equality, liberty, and justice for all, including the Black women, who are too often overlooked, but so often prove that they are the backbone of our democracy.

All the women who worked to secure and protect the right to vote for over a century: 100 years ago with the 19th Amendment, 55 years ago with the Voting Rights Act, and now, in 2020, with a new generation of women in our country who cast their ballots and continued the fight for their fundamental right to vote and be heard."

She marked her own milestones by reflecting on Joe's character to choosing a woman as his running mate and how important it was reflected for the young girls with this: "And what a testament it is to Joe’s character that he had the audacity to break one of the most substantial barriers that exists in our country and select a woman as his vice president. But while I may be the first woman in this office, I won’t be the last.

Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities. And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.

And we will applaud you every step of the way."

Her niece Meena Harris posted more pictures of the festive, celebratory night on her twitter with the entire Biden-Harris families. We can see Madam VP with her grand nieces
