After many weeks of being taunted for not visiting the U.S.-Mexico borders by Republicans, The White House announced that Vice President Harris was traveling to the city of El Paso in the State of Texas to the Paso del Norte Port of Entry. El Paso is one of many cities in the United States bordering with Mexico.

As previously written, VP Harris was appointed by President Biden to head the talks on Immigration and the issues at the US-Mexico Borders. She arrived in El Paso and was welcomed and spoke with Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas (with whom she travelled from Washington, D.C), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) on the tarmac at EPIA.

2) Then she addressed reporters on the tarmac saying, “We are here today to address and to talk about what has brought people to the U.S. border and again to continue to address the root causes which caused people to leave and often flee their home country,”

3) Then she departed through Hondo Pass for Northeast El Paso where she visited the Paso del Norte Port of Entry and toured the migrant processing facility. The Port of Entry is one of the country's busiest pedestrian border crossings.

During her visit, The vice president was briefed by Border Patrol agents and given a tour of the processing facility, where she met with five young girls from Central America.

4) Then she departed for Paso Del Norte Bridge, where she visited the section of the bridge where cars travel and are examined when crossing from Juarez, Mexico to the United States, as well as a secondary migrant processing center and the region of the bridge where asylum seekers are checked when arriving from Mexico to the United States.

5) From there she returned to the airport at where she met with advocates, non-profits, and those who offer shelter and legal assistance to migrants for a round table meeting where she discussed the ideas that the government is employing in its approach to immigration.

Here is her publicly known schedule:

1) She began the day with joining President Biden in the Oval Office to receive the President's Daily Briefings.

2) Then she granted an exclusive interview with CBS' This Morning host Gayle King. During the interview Madam Vice President spoke about gun control, the situation on the Southern border, the increase in racist attacks on Asian and Pacific Islanders Americans and many other things.

Following the mass shootings which took place on Tuesday in Boulder, Colorada which killed ten people and last week's mass shootings in Atlanta, Georgia, Vice President Kamala urged Congress especially Senate to act on responsible gun laws. MVP Harris told Gayle, "The point here is Congress needs to act. On the House side, they did. There are two bills which the president is prepared to sign, and so we need the Senate to act."

On the usage of AR-15 style-assault weapons which was the weapon used in both shootings, MVP said this,"There is no reason why we have assault weapons on the streets of a civil society. They are weapons of war." There is a lot more she said on the subject.

When asked about how the administration is working on the Southern Border, MVP said that she and the president will at some point in the year visit the various borders entries as the U.S. remains on track to open at least six emergency facilities to house migrant children coming into the country. This comes after the Biden administration has been facing scrutiny from both the Democrats and Republicans for how they are addressing the growing crisis.

She also said that the administration is going to need to work to solve the root problem of the migration crisis and deal with what causes people from those countries to come to the United States.

About how to deal with the increase in racist attacks against AAPI, Madam Vice President said this, "We have to do a number of things. One is we have to hold the people who commit hate crimes accountable, we also need to speak the truth about our history and not gloss over it. We need to also talk about what we must do, to really think about how we define who is an American. And understand that it is the very essence of the strength our nation that we are a land of immigrants, people who have come from around the globe here and contributed to our vitality, our strength. And all people are part of it. The Chinese helped build the railroads of America."

3) After that, Madam Vice President joined President Biden in the Private Dining room for lunch.

4) Later she joined President Biden again in the State Dining Room for a meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Mayarkos, Secretary Xavier Becerra of Health and Human Services, and immigration advisors.

5) Wednesday was the National Equal Payday, and for the occasion, Madam Vice President convenes a roundtable meeting with the White House Council of Economic Advisor Chair Cecilia Rouse and member Heather Boushey. This was held at Eisenhower Executive Office Building

6) During his first formal press conference in the East Room, President Biden announced that Madam Vice President will be leading the diplomatic talks with Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. This is to address the Southern Border issues as well as its root causes of migration, some of which include economic instability, violence and extreme weather like hurricanes and earthquakes.

During the day, Madam Vice President joined in remembering the one year anniversary of Ahmaud Arbery, who was sadly shot and killed in 2020 during a morning run

A year ago, Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed while on a run. As we remember Ahmaud today, we commit to building a future where Black Americans no longer have to live in fear— simply because of the color of their skin.
