Today, Kamala posted her kwanzaa message to her Instagram wishing all celebrating a Happy Kwanzaa. She also remembered the days she and her sister Maya will celebrate the day with family and friends.
With a message attach, "Happy Kwanzaa, Our Kwanzaa celebrations are one of my favorite childhood memories. The whole family would gather around across multiple generations and we’d tell stories and light the candles. Whether you’re celebrating this year with those you live with or over Zoom, happy Kwanzaa!"
Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture created by Maulana Karenga that is held from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually held on the 6th day. It was created based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of Africa, including West and Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
