Vice President Harris met with senior officials from the private sectors on Thursday in the Vice President's ceremonial office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building for a meeting on the root effects of migration in the Northern Triangle amongst which is the economic effects.



While talking to the press before the close door meeting, VP Harris said economic opportunities in the region can be boosted via partnerships with the private sector. President Joe Biden had tasked Madam Vice President with leading U.S. efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle countries of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Since then, she has met with various people and taken a series of steps aimed at improving conditions and lowering migration from the region. Vice President Harris' push to revitalize the regional economic growth will focus on six different areas. These will also include expanding affordable internet access, combating food shortages by boosting farm productivity and backing regional efforts to fight climate change and make a transition to clean energy. It will also aim to expand job training programs and improve public health access.

The representative from twelve companies and groups which includes Microsoft Corp, Bancolombia, Davivienda, Duolingo, Chobani, Mastercard and Nestle's Nespresso all agreed to commit to making investments in Central America
